BowFlex BXT8Ji quick verdict
The BXT8Ji is aimed at regular home running with straightforward treadmill controls and plenty of built-in workouts. The 152 x 51 cm (59.8 x 20.1 in) running area, 20 km/h (12.4 mph) top speed and 15% incline give it a good range for mixed running sessions.
The 2.5 CHP motor is the part I would judge most carefully if you are a heavier runner or expect to cover a lot of miles each week. For more usual regular running, I like that the treadmill still works well without making an app subscription essential.

I judge the BXT8Ji in the context of the job it is designed to do – regular mixed home running with standard controls and optional connected training. I focused on how the main features affect real buying decisions rather than treating every line of the specification as equally important.
- Training suitability – belt size, speed, incline and the overall specification for the kind of running, jogging or walking the machine is aimed at.
- Build and practicality – machine weight, user capacity, frame type, dimensions, storage and how realistic it is to place and move at home.
- Technology and ownership – console or controls, app choice, warranty and recurring themes in model-specific customer feedback.
For this review I focused on motor power, running area, incline, cushioning, controls, app support and warranty. I use the current UK specification as the starting point and focus on how the main features affect real buying decisions. I do not assume an overseas version is identical to the model sold here.

Who is the BowFlex BXT8Ji best for?
The BXT8Ji is a good fit if you want a roomy treadmill with physical controls, built-in workouts and JRNY available when you want it.
If you are a heavier runner doing high weekly mileage, want a built-in touchscreen or need broader app support confirmed, I would consider alternatives.
What Stands Out
Good running area – The 152 x 51 cm (59.8 x 20.1 in) belt gives you enough room for regular home running.
Works well without an app – The 26 built-in programmes give you structured workouts without making a subscription essential.
More scope for hill work and comfort – The incline range adds hill work, while Comfort Tech cushioning softens the feel underfoot.
Straightforward controls – The physical controls make it easy to change the main settings while you train.
Things to consider
JRNY is the main connected app – If broad third-party treadmill integration matters to you, check the current compatibility before buying.
Large and heavy – At 114.5 kg (252 lb), delivery, assembly and moving the treadmill into place need some planning.
A CLOSER LOOK
How the BowFlex BXT8Ji performs in key areas
RUNNING COMFORT
Running area
The 152 x 51 cm (59.8 x 20.1 in) running area gives you enough length for regular running without feeling cramped. The length is the main benefit here: it gives longer strides more room and makes faster running feel less constrained.
BUILD & CAPACITY
Build and user weight
At 114.5 kg (18 st 0 lb), the BXT8Ji is a heavy-duty treadmill. The maximum user weight is 136 kg (21 st 6 lb), so heavier runners should check that limit carefully. The machine weight should help it stay planted during running, but it also means the delivery position matters because this is not something you will want to move often.
PERFORMANCE
Motor and speed
The 2.5 CHP motor and 20 km/h (12.4 mph) top speed are enough for regular home running.
If you are a heavier runner or expect high weekly mileage, I would look at a treadmill with 3 CHP or more.
HILL CLIMB TRAINING
Incline
The powered incline reaches 15%, giving you plenty of scope for hill walking and harder running sessions. For walkers, that lets you raise effort substantially without increasing speed; for runners, it gives you room for hill intervals and strength-focused sessions.
SPACE & STORAGE
Frame and storage
SoftDrop folding reduces the stored length, but the treadmill still takes up around 139 x 95.5 cm (54.7 x 37.6 in). It saves space between sessions without becoming a compact-storage model. My folding treadmill guide explains the main folding designs.
CONNECTED TRAINING
Apps and subscriptions
JRNY is BowFlex’s connected training app, adding a brand-specific connected layer through your own device. If third-party apps matter to you, check the current compatibility before buying.
My smart treadmill guide explains the different levels of treadmill integration.
JRNY is BowFlex’s own training app, and BowFlex also lists Zwift compatibility for the BXT8Ji.
EVERYDAY USE
Console and controls
The 7-inch LCD and physical controls keep the treadmill easy to use without an app. The 26 built-in programmes give you plenty to work with if you prefer training directly from the console.
JRNY is BowFlex’s own training app, and BowFlex also lists Zwift compatibility for the BXT8Ji.
PEACE OF MIND
Warranty and after-sales cover
The warranty is 2 years for home use. That gives you basic cover, but it is not as long as some competing heavy treadmills, so after-sales support and the retailer you buy from matter more here.
SPACE CHECK
BowFlex BXT8Ji dimensions and space required
The BXT8Ji folds to reclaim some floor space between sessions, but folding does not remove the need to plan for its full width and the room required to use it safely.
| Dimensions in use | 198 x 95.5 x 159.5 cm (78.0 x 37.6 x 62.8 in) |
| Running area | 152 x 51 cm (59.8 x 20.1 in) |
| Frame type | Fold-Up Deck |
| Maximum user weight | 136 kg (21 st 6 lb) |
| Machine weight | 114.5 kg (252 lb) |
Although this treadmill has transport wheels, you still need to be comfortable lifting or tilting part of it to get it onto the wheels before you can move it.
Because the treadmill’s boxed weight will be over 80 kg, couriers will not take it up any stairs during delivery.
TREADMILL COMPARISON
Compare the BowFlex BXT8Ji with other treadmills
Use the selectors below to compare the BowFlex BXT8Ji with up to three treadmills I have reviewed. The first column stays fixed to this model.
Choose at least one treadmill above to show the comparison table.
| Feature | BowFlex BXT8Ji | |||
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Motor power | 2.5 CHP | |||
| Maximum speed | 20 km/h (12.4 mph) | |||
| Incline | 15% | |||
| Running belt | 152 x 51 cm (59.8 x 20.1 in) | |||
| Maximum user weight | 136 kg (21 st 6 lb) | |||

| Compatible apps | JRNY, Zwift | |||
| Assembled dimensions | 198 x 95.5 x 159.5 cm (78.0 x 37.6 x 62.8 in) |
The table is there to make the differences easier to scan. I would still judge each treadmill in the context of the training it is designed for rather than treating one higher figure as automatically better.
BowFlex BXT8Ji final verdict
The BXT8Ji is a good fit if you want a roomy treadmill with physical controls and plenty of built-in workouts. The 152 x 51 cm (59.8 x 20.1 in) running area, 20 km/h (12.4 mph) top speed and 15% incline cover normal home running well.
The 2.5 CHP motor is enough for regular running, but I would want more power if you are heavier or expect high weekly mileage.
If you prefer straightforward controls and built-in training over a large screen, the BXT8Ji has a clear appeal.

BowFlex BXT8Ji FAQ
Is the BowFlex BXT8Ji suitable for tall runners?
The 152 x 51 cm (59.8 x 20.1 in) running area gives suitable room for regular running and should suit many taller users and longer strides.
Is the BowFlex BXT8Ji suitable for regular running?
The running area, 20 km/h (12.4 mph) top speed and heavy-duty chassis make it a suitable regular-running treadmill. The 2.5 CHP motor is enough for regular home running, but demanding weekly use may justify more motor capacity.
Is the BowFlex BXT8Ji suitable for heavier users?
The stated maximum user weight is 136 kg (21 st 6 lb). That is useful capacity, but heavier runners should look at their body weight with the limit and leave a practical operating margin.
Do I need JRNY to use the BowFlex BXT8Ji?
JRNY is the main listed connected training platform, but the treadmill also has a standard console and built-in programmes. That makes it less dependent on an app for basic workouts.
What warranty does the BowFlex BXT8Ji have in the UK?
The home warranty used for this review is 2 years. At this price I would look at the after-sales cover carefully before buying.
What is JRNY?
JRNY is BowFlex’s connected training app. It adds a brand-specific connected training option through a compatible phone or tablet, while the BXT8Ji can still be used with its built-in workouts and physical controls.
