ProForm Carbon Pro 9000 quick verdict

The Carbon Pro 9000 is aimed at regular runners who want a strong treadmill and a larger iFIT screen. The 3.6 CHP motor, 152 cm (59.8 in) running length and 20 km/h (12.4 mph) top speed give it the running specification I would expect at this level.

The 16-inch screen only adds value if you will use iFIT regularly. If the screen is not important, I would look at the Carbon Pro 2000 because it offers many of the same running features for less.

Measurements

Who is the ProForm Carbon Pro 9000 best for?

The Carbon Pro 9000 is a good fit if you run regularly and will use the 16-inch screen for iFIT-led training.

If the larger screen is not important, I would look at the Carbon Pro 2000 before paying more.

What Stands Out

Strong running specification – The 3.6 CHP motor, 152 cm (59.8 in) running length and 20 km/h (12.4 mph) top speed are well matched to regular home running.

Large screen suits guided iFIT training – The larger display is a worthwhile upgrade if you regularly follow trainer-led sessions.

High user limit – The 159 kg (25 st 1 lb) maximum gives the treadmill plenty of structural capacity.

Good home warranty – Two years parts and labour is backed by longer motor and frame cover once registered.

Things to consider

iFIT is central – The smart experience and automatic workout adjustments are heavily tied to a paid iFIT membership.

Only pay for the screen if you will use it – The 16-inch display adds much less value if you mainly press Quick Start.

No verified Zwift or Kinomap control – I would not assume Bluetooth gives you direct third-party treadmill training.

Look at the 2000 – If you do not need the larger screen or stronger 3.6 CHP motor, the cheaper model may be a better fit.

A CLOSER LOOK

How the ProForm Carbon Pro 9000 performs in key areas

RUNNING COMFORT

Running area

The 152 x 51 cm (59.8 x 20.1 in) running area gives you good running length and enough width for regular home running. The 152 cm length gives longer strides room to open up, while the 51 cm width is enough for normal running without making the whole treadmill unnecessarily wide.

BUILD & CAPACITY

Build and user weight

The maximum user weight is 159 kg (25 st 1 lb), giving the Carbon Pro 9000 a high capacity for a home treadmill. That higher limit gives heavier users more choice and makes the machine suitable for a wider range of users.

PERFORMANCE

Motor and speed

The 3.6 CHP motor and 20 km/h (12.4 mph) top speed are a strong match for regular home running.

If you are especially heavy or cover very high weekly mileage, I would still look at more powerful heavy-duty models.

HILL CLIMB TRAINING

Incline

The powered incline reaches 12%, giving you plenty of scope for hill walking and harder running. iFIT can adjust it automatically during supported sessions. It lets you add more effort at walking and running speeds rather than relying on pace alone, while the automatic changes fit naturally with guided iFIT sessions.

SPACE & STORAGE

Frame and storage

EasyLift folding cuts the stored length to about 97 cm (38.2 in). It still stays nearly 88 cm (34.6 in) wide and 173 cm (68.1 in) high, so the fold saves floor length rather than making it easy to hide. My folding treadmill guide explains the main folding designs.

CONNECTED TRAINING

Apps and subscriptions

iFIT is ProForm’s main connected training platform, and SmartAdjust can change speed and incline automatically during supported sessions.

That is one of the stronger reasons to use the subscription, but I would factor the membership into the long-term cost. My smart treadmill guide explains the different levels of connected training.

iFIT can also sync workout data with Strava, Garmin Connect and Apple Health.

EVERYDAY USE

Console and controls

The 16-inch screen makes iFIT easy to follow. If you mostly use manual Quick Start, I would put more weight on the motor, running area and warranty.

iFIT can also sync workout data with Strava, Garmin Connect and Apple Health.

PEACE OF MIND

Warranty and after-sales cover

The warranty is 2 years parts and labour, 5 years motor parts-only and lifetime frame when registered within 28 days.

That is strong home-use cover. Register within 28 days so the longer terms apply.

SPACE CHECK

ProForm Carbon Pro 9000 dimensions and space required

The Carbon Pro 9000 folds to reclaim some floor space between sessions, but folding does not remove the need to plan for its full width and the room required to use it safely.

Dimensions in use185.9 x 87.9 x 154.2 cm (73.2 x 34.6 x 60.7 in)
Running area152 x 51 cm (59.8 x 20.1 in)
Frame typeFold-Up Deck
Maximum user weight159 kg (25 st 1 lb)

Although this treadmill has transport wheels, you still need to be comfortable lifting or tilting part of it to get it onto the wheels before you can move it.

Because the treadmill’s boxed weight will be over 80 kg, couriers will not take it up any stairs during delivery.

TREADMILL COMPARISON

Compare the ProForm Carbon Pro 9000 with other treadmills

Use the selectors below to compare the ProForm Carbon Pro 9000 with up to three treadmills I have reviewed. The first column stays fixed to this model.

Choose treadmills to compare Select up to three reviewed models.

Choose at least one treadmill above to show the comparison table.

Feature ProForm Carbon Pro 9000
Motor power 3.6 CHP
Maximum speed 20 km/h (12.4 mph)
Incline 12%
Running belt 152 x 51 cm (59.8 x 20.1 in)
Maximum user weight 159 kg (25 st 1 lb)
Frame type Fold-Up Deck
Compatible apps iFIT, Strava, Garmin Connect, Apple Health
Assembled dimensions 185.9 x 87.9 x 154.2 cm (73.2 x 34.6 x 60.7 in)

The table is there to make the differences easier to scan. I would still judge each treadmill in the context of the training it is designed for rather than treating one higher figure as automatically better.

ProForm Carbon Pro 9000 final verdict

The Carbon Pro 9000 is a strong option for regular home running if you want iFIT on a larger screen. The 3.6 CHP motor and 152 cm (59.8 in) running length give it the running specification I would expect at this level.

The 16-inch screen is only worth paying for if you use trainer-led workouts regularly. Otherwise, much of the extra spend is going into a feature you may ignore.

The warranty is good once registered, but the connected side remains tied closely to iFIT rather than open Zwift or Kinomap treadmill control.

If you want the larger screen and stronger motor, the 9000 works well. If not, I would look at the Carbon Pro 2000 first.

ProForm Carbon Pro 9000 FAQ

Is the ProForm Carbon Pro 9000 suitable for tall runners?

Yes. The 152 x 51 cm (59.8 x 20.1 in) running area gives suitable length for regular running and should work well for many taller users and longer strides.

Is the ProForm Carbon Pro 9000 suitable for heavier runners?

The maximum user weight is 159 kg (25 st 1 lb), giving it a high home-use capacity. If the heaviest user is close to that figure, I would look at a higher-capacity treadmill for frequent running.

Is the ProForm Carbon Pro 9000 suitable for daily running?

The 3.6 CHP motor, 152 cm (59.8 in) running length and 20 km/h (12.4 mph) top speed make it a strong option for frequent home running. The warranty and iFIT setup are the other parts I would consider for long-term use.

Do I need iFIT to get the most from the ProForm Carbon Pro 9000?

iFIT is a major part of the connected experience, including trainer-led workouts and automatic adjustments. If you mainly use manual workouts, the large screen will contribute less to the value of the treadmill.

What warranty does the ProForm Carbon Pro 9000 have in the UK?

The warranty is 2 years parts and labour, 5 years motor parts-only and lifetime frame when registered within 28 days. Complete the registration promptly.

What is iFIT?

iFIT is the main connected training platform used by ProForm. It provides guided workouts and can adjust treadmill speed and incline automatically during compatible sessions. The full connected features depend on the current iFIT membership.
